New Librarian appointed at the University Library

We mentioned recently that Peter Fox, Librarian at the University Library (UL), is retiring in March after fifteen years’ service. His successor has been announced – Mrs Anne Jarvis, the current Deputy Librarian at the UL. Anne, 46, is a graduate in history of Trinity College Dublin, she also served for two years as Vice-President at Wolfson College, where she has been a Fellow since 2000 and she has been the UL Deputy Librarian since 2000.

Cambridge University Library has over eight million books and volumes and is one of six Legal Deposit libraries in the UK and Ireland, a status it has held since 1710, which entitles it to a free copy of every book, journal, map and music published in the United Kingdom. The library has more than 100 miles of shelving, which has to be extended by a further two miles each year.
