New Cambridge Companions ebooks

Ten more ebooks in CUP’s Cambridge Companions series have been added to Cambridge Collections Online. The titles are:

The Cambridge Companion to…

  • Literature of World War II
  • British Theatre, 1730-1830
  • Voltaire
  • Modern Chinese Culture
  • Thomas Jefferson
  • Hume (2nd edition)
  • Bob Dylan
  • Darwin (2nd edition)
  • Paul Tillich
  • John Henry Newman

The University provides full text access to the complete set of Cambridge Companions which now comprises 314 titles (192 Literature/Classics titles and 122 Philosophy/Religion/Culture titles).

We have full text access to well over half a million ebooks in total and around 30,000 recently published titles through the UL—see the eresources@cambridge – ebooks web page which lists all the sources.

Additional to that, ebook search services such as Google Book Search and Digital Book Index cover a huge number of out of copyright (usually pre-1930) full text ebooks available on the web.

Note that, just to confuse us, there is the CCLF’s ebooks@cambridge based at Selwyn College who supply around 1,000 of the ebooks (mostly those from NetLibrary, MyiLibrary, and Routledge/Taylor & Francis). Also they have a weblog. Note that these 1,000 ebooks should, in theory, be included in the Newton catalogue—all the other collections of ebooks are not, or not yet.
