Undergraduate borrowing at the University Library

University LibraryThis is a reminder to undergraduate students about a change in borrowing regulations at the University Library.

From this academic year, October 2010 onwards:

  • All undergraduates at the University of Cambridge will be able to borrow up to five items at one time, from the University Library, for two week loan periods.
  • Loans can be renewed online for one extra loan period of two weeks.
  • The UL offers vacation loans over the Christmas and Easter vacations (subject to recall) but not over the long vacation.

The UL web pages for new students can be found at http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/students/.

Details of the Research Skills programme and introductory tours of the UL can be found at http://www.lib.cam.ac.uk/courses/.

The UL is one of six Legal Deposit libraries in the UK and Ireland. This means it it is entitled to claim without charge a copy of all books, journals, printed maps and music published in Britain and Ireland. The UL is unique amongst the UK’s Legal Deposit libraries in keeping a large proportion of its books on open access and in allowing material to be borrowed from its collection.
