Library refurbishment progress

Here are a few photos showing the progress in the refurbishment of Homerton College Library. Most of the preparatory work has already been done and we are now awaiting delivery of the new shelving and other new furniture beginning next week. Click on the pictures to see a larger version.

28 June 2012 – General chaos as we move all our stuff out of the library, some into storage, some up to MAB 125 where we are temporarily housed.

3 July 2012 – Books being removed in crates to storage

6 July 2012 – All the books and shelves have been removed. Small reminders are left scattered around…

10 July 2012 – the libray has now been stripped down to its basic structural elements.

24 July 2012 (01) – The whole library has been redecorated and a new carpet already covers the ground floor. Carpet tiles are being laid on the middle floor.

24 July 2012 (02) – The new self issue kiosk being installed in a newly created alcove near the library entrance.

27 July 2012 (01) – Two new rooms created from one: the new Librarian’s office and a smaller library workroom. The public computer systems will be in the area to the left where the Librarians used to sit. A new enquiry desk will be in the same place as the old one in front of the offices.

27 July 2012 – The library entrance area. The self issue kiosk is now connected and operating correctly. Note our new information screen above the self issue alcove.

Our new library is on schedule to open on 10 September 2012.
